About wd photography
I am a freelance photographer who became professional in 2007 at the age of 30. Prior to this I was living the corporate life with a successful career in sales and marketing, whilst studying photography part time. I live in Buckinghamshire, just 50 minutes from London – an area I know intimately from both living and working there.
Photography has gradually become one of the main passions in my life, starting years ago, as most do with a 'point and shoot' camera. From here the idea that using a camera to create more than personal images tempted me to start studying the art. The technical aspects, combined with the photographic images themselves, made me realise I would like to pursue this as a career rather than just a hobby.
I enjoy many disciplines within photography from landscapes and wildlife to architecture. I also have a passion for people. I enjoy photographing people in all situations from weddings and music festivals to personal portraits. My style is very much a candid take on the event, preferring to capture those split second moments rather than posing subjects. Branching from this is a love of street photography and photojournalism, which enables me to go beyond just the image of people to reflect a deeper theme or message.
Educated to degree level (animal physiology?!?) my other passions in life include powerboat racing, skiing, SCUBA diving and my 1968 MGB. I travel whenever and wherever possible, and have seen some wonderful places meeting many amazing people along the way. All this I try to fit in around my much loved family, friends and, of course, camera.
